Overview

OXVA Xlim Pod Kit

This is the XLIM that started the range. A 900mAh battery, 5-25W that the device sets for itself, adjustable airflow on the side, and a 0.42-inch display - which was unusual on a pod this small when it launched and is still uncommon at this price. There is no wattage to learn and nothing to configure: fit a cartridge and it works out the rest.

Being refillable is the point of it. You buy e-liquid separately and refill a 2ml cartridge rather than replacing a whole device, which is what makes the running cost lower than a prefilled one once the kit is paid for. Replacements are XLIM V3 cartridges, and the rest of the series sits in OXVA XLIM pod kits.

Where it stops is output. This device runs to 25W, which covers the 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm cartridges but not the 0.4 ohm - OXVA excludes that one explicitly. If you want the higher-output cartridge, adjustable wattage you set yourself, and a faster 2A charge, that is the XLIM Pro rather than this. Both take the same cartridge platform, so moving up later does not strand the cartridges you already own. The full OXVA range covers both platforms.

Compare the OXVA XLIM range

Every device in this range runs the same XLIM cartridge platform, so cartridges carry across and moving up later does not strand the ones you already own. What changes is how much control you get and how much battery sits behind it. The Go Lite is the stripped-back entry point with no button and no screen, the standard XLIM adds a display, and the Pro lets you set the wattage yourself and charges at twice the rate.

Shared by all: 2ml (TPD) refillable XLIM cartridges with the coil built in, side airflow control, USB-C charging and a mouth-to-lung to restricted direct-lung draw. Only devices reaching 26-30W can run the 0.4 ohm cartridge, which is the one practical split across this group.

Add your own e-liquid

E-liquid: what to use & where to buy

Nothing arrives pre-filled, so e-liquid is bought separately and the right one depends on the cartridge you fit.

The 0.8 and 1.2 ohm cartridges are mouth-to-lung resistances and suit nicotine salts or balanced 50/50 e-liquids. The 0.6 ohm takes freebase or salt and gives a warmer, more open draw at the top of this device's range.

Thick high-VG shortfills are the one thing to avoid. A mesh coil this small cannot wick liquid that heavy fast enough, and the result is a dry hit rather than a bigger cloud.

Verified resistance-specific guidance, where available, is shown with each pod in the compatibility section above. Ready to stock up?

Is this right for you?

Prefilled pods vs. the full kit

This is the kit: the XLIM device itself, supplied with two cartridges so it works out of the box. If you already own an XLIM and the flavour has faded, you need cartridges rather than a second device - they are sold separately and cost a fraction of this.

E-liquid is separate either way. This is a refillable system, so nothing arrives pre-filled and you choose what goes in it.

OXVA's specification for this device lists three cartridge resistances and no more: 0.6 ohm at 20-25W, 0.8 ohm at 12-16W and 1.2 ohm at 10-12W.

The 0.4 ohm cartridge is not one of them, and OXVA says so directly rather than leaving it to be inferred: the XLIM POD is not compatible with 0.4 ohm. The reason is output - 0.4 ohm is specified at 26-30W and this device stops at 25W. If you want to run 0.4 ohm, that points to the XLIM Pro rather than to this kit.

One caveat we would rather state than bury. OXVA's page for the current V3 top-fill cartridge names the newer XLIM models and does not name this one. The resistances line up and UK retailers sell V3 cartridges for it, but the pairing OXVA itself documents for the original XLIM is the standard XLIM cartridge in 0.6, 0.8 or 1.2 ohm. If you want the manufacturer-documented match, buy on resistance and check the model printed on your device.

XLIM C and NeXLIM cartridges are separate platforms despite the shared name, and are not compatible with this device.

Before you order

What is in the kit?

The XLIM device with a 0.8 ohm cartridge already fitted, a second cartridge in 1.2 ohm, a Type-C charging cable and the user manual.

Those two resistances are the mouth-to-lung pair - 0.8 ohm for a balanced draw and 1.2 ohm for the tightest one in the range. If you want the warmer, more open 0.6 ohm, that is bought separately.

E-liquid is not included. This is a refillable kit, so nothing arrives pre-filled and you choose what goes in it.

The basics

How it works

The XLIM runs a 900mAh battery at 5-25W and sets the wattage itself based on the cartridge you fit - there is no wattage to dial in. You fire it either by drawing on it or by pressing the button, and airflow is set with a control on the side rather than by twisting the cartridge, so once you find your draw it stays put.

The cartridge carries the coil, so the resistance you fit is what decides the experience. OXVA publishes a wattage band for each: 0.6 ohm at 20-25W for a warmer, more open draw, 0.8 ohm at 12-16W for a balanced mouth-to-lung one, and 1.2 ohm at 10-12W for the tightest draw in the range.

A 0.42-inch display shows you where things stand, and charging is over USB-C at 5V/1A.

Get started

Setup & how to use

Take the cartridge out, open the fill port and fill slowly, leaving a small air gap rather than filling to the brim. Close the port firmly and seat the cartridge back in the device.

Leave a freshly filled cartridge standing for a few minutes before the first draw, and take two or three pulls without firing to help the coil wick. This is the step most people skip, and it is the single most common reason a brand-new cartridge tastes burnt on day one.

Open or close the side airflow control until the draw feels right. The device handles the wattage for you, so there is nothing else to set.

If something is not right

Troubleshooting

A burnt taste on a new cartridge almost always means it was fired before the wick had saturated. That cannot be undone once the cotton has scorched, which is why the standing time matters more than it sounds.

No fire or weak output is usually the contacts rather than the device. Remove the cartridge, wipe the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the device with a dry tissue, and reseat it firmly.

Gurgling or liquid in the mouthpiece points to overfilling, or to a fill port that has not been pressed fully shut. Very thick high-VG e-liquid floods these coils for the same reason.

If it will not charge, try a different USB-C cable before assuming a fault. The port collects pocket lint, and a dry cocktail stick clears it.

Safety, storage & recycling

Keep the device and its built-in battery away from extreme heat, water and direct sunlight. Charge on a non-flammable surface using a USB-C lead and don't leave it charging unattended. Keep the device, pods and e-liquid out of reach of children and pets, and wash your hands after handling e-liquid.

At end of life, don't put the device in general waste — recycle it at a battery or small-electricals recycling point, or via a vape take-back scheme where available. Empty pods can be recycled with small electricals where accepted.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

What wattage should I use with each XLIM cartridge?

OXVA publishes a band for each resistance rather than a single number: 0.6 ohm at 20-25W, 0.8 ohm at 12-16W and 1.2 ohm at 10-12W. This device runs 5-25W and adjusts itself to the cartridge you fit, so you are not setting it manually - but the bands are still the reason each cartridge tastes the way it does.

If a cartridge tastes harsh or dry, it is running at the top of its band with e-liquid that cannot wick fast enough. If it tastes thin, it is at the bottom. The fix in both cases is the resistance and the e-liquid, not the device.

Does this XLIM take the 0.4 ohm cartridge?

No. OXVA's specification for this device lists three cartridge resistances only - 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm - and OXVA separately states that the XLIM POD is not compatible with 0.4 ohm cartridges.

The 0.4 ohm is the highest-output cartridge in the range and needs a device that can drive it to 26-30W. This one tops out at 25W. If you want to run 0.4 ohm, that is a reason to look at the XLIM Pro rather than a reason to force it here.

Which replacement cartridges fit the XLIM Pod Kit?

XLIM refillable cartridges in 0.6, 0.8 or 1.2 ohm. They are sold separately from the kit, and one cartridge carries its own coil - there is no separate coil to buy.

Two things this device will not take: the 0.4 ohm cartridge, and anything from the XLIM C or NeXLIM ranges. Those share the XLIM name but are separate platforms with their own cartridges.

What e-liquid should I use in it?

Nothing arrives pre-filled, so you buy e-liquid separately. Nicotine salts and balanced 50/50 e-liquids suit this device, and OXVA pairs the higher resistances with salts in particular.

Thick high-VG shortfills are the one thing to avoid. A mesh coil this small cannot wick liquid that heavy quickly enough, and the result is a dry hit rather than a bigger cloud.

What is the difference between this and the XLIM Pro?

Battery and control. This one is 900mAh at 5-25W and sets the wattage for you. The Pro is 1000mAh at 5-30W with a wattage you set yourself, and it charges at 5V/2A rather than 5V/1A.

The Pro also accepts the 0.4 ohm cartridge, which this one does not. What does not change is the cartridge platform - both run XLIM cartridges, so upgrading later does not make your existing stock useless.

How long does one cartridge last?

OXVA publishes no figure for this, and neither will we - any number you see quoted for coil life is an estimate someone has made up rather than a manufacturer specification.

What genuinely shortens it is well established, though: firing a cartridge before the wick has saturated, running dark or heavily sweetened e-liquid, and letting it run low rather than topping up. Flavour fading rather than any fixed refill count is the signal to change.

Why does a brand-new cartridge taste burnt?

Almost always because it was fired before the cotton had soaked through. A freshly filled cartridge needs a few minutes standing, plus two or three pulls without firing, before the first proper draw.

This is the step most people skip, and it cannot be undone once the cotton has scorched. It is worth getting right on the first fill of every cartridge rather than the first fill of the kit.

Does it have a screen, and how do I check the battery?

Yes - there is a 0.42-inch display on the device, which is unusual at this size and price and is one of the reasons the original XLIM stayed popular for as long as it did.

You can fire it by drawing on it or by pressing the button, whichever you prefer, and airflow is set with a control on the side rather than by twisting the cartridge - so once you find your draw it stays where you put it.

How we verified this product

The specifications on this page - 900mAh, 5-25W, the 2ml cartridge, 5V/1A USB-C charging, 111.0 x 24.0 x 14.0mm at 45g, the 0.42-inch display and the choice of auto-draw or button firing - come from OXVA's own published XLIM specification, read on 31 July 2026 and cross-checked against two independent listings.

Three things about this particular device are worth saying plainly, because they are the sort of detail that usually gets dropped.

First, the box. OXVA changed the pack during this model's life: their current specification page lists 0.6 and 0.8 ohm, while every launch-era listing lists 0.8 and 1.2 ohm. We have described the pack we actually ship rather than quoting whichever version suited us, so what is written above is our claim about our stock, not a copy of OXVA's page.

Second, cartridge generations. OXVA's page for the current V3 top-fill cartridge names the newer XLIM models and does not name this one, even though the resistances match and the range is sold for it across the UK. We have said so in the compatibility section rather than presenting a cross-generation fit as manufacturer-documented when it is not.

Third, what is deliberately absent. There is no coil-life or refill-count figure anywhere on this page, because OXVA publishes none and any number would be invented. And OXVA no longer lists this model on their own site - we have not called it discontinued, because they have not said so, but you are entitled to know it is the original rather than the current generation before you buy it.

Capacity is the UK 2ml specification throughout.
